NaNoWriMo, NaKniMo, NaSouMo
Well, in the calendar of the Catholic Church, this is All Soul's Day. I'm sure mom went to church, to commemorate all the dead folk. I think it's a cool thing, but I did not go to church. I instead went up to my writing nook and celebrated National Novel Writing Month by writing my 2000 words for the day. National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, as it's familiarly called, is a crazy all out writing spree, celebrated by thousands of novelists and would-be novelists around the world. The goal is to write 50,000 words in 30 days. They don't have to be good. They don't even have to really make sense, all strung together. There just have to be 50,000 of them. I am hoping I will end up with a slightly-less-than-shitty first draft of my third book. that would please me no end. So if I am less than meticulous about writing here, you know why. I am setting aside 4 hours a day for WriMoing. I think that will do it, and even with Thansgiving, (one of my favorite eating holidays), at 2000 words a day, I'll make it. It's good to set goals, even crazy ones. So I advise you to do the same. Set yourself a crazy goal for the month of November - knit all your X-mas presents, every one. NaKniMo. Or vow to cook your way through 30 Great Holiday Soup Recipes - NaSouMo. Make up your own ridiculous goal. And have fun writing and drawing about it all. I'll only be posting approximately once a week till December, to give us all time to achieve our goals.
